FIFA PRESIDENT GUEST OF HONOUR AS IRAN DETAINS 35 WOMEN FOR GOING OUT TO WATCH A FOOTBALL GAME
35 women were said to
have been arrested in Iran for going to watch a football game in which the
president of FIFA Gianni Infantino and the Iranian Sports Minister, Masoud
Soltanifar were in attendance.
The group of women
tried to go to the game in Tehran between Esteqlal and Perespolis where they
were held by and transferred to what the Iranian Interior Ministry spokerman
Seyyed Salman Samani described as a “proper place” by police.
A live broadcast was
hastily taken off the air when a journalist asked the Sports Minister,
Soltanifar when women will be allowed to attend games in Iran.
This is another extreme
case of Gender Inequality.
