Nigerian Army Reacts to Disturbing Video of IPOB Members Being Tortured by Soldiers

Following the revelation of a sad and disturbing video of Nigerian soldiers brutally torturing IPOB members, the army has issued a statement.

Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sanni Usman has reacted to a viral video of soldiers torturing and dehumanizing members of the Indigenous People of Biafra in Abia state.
 
The three minute video shows Nigerian soldiers torturing members of IPOB, flogging and ordering them to sleep in the mud by a roadside.
 
Usman while speaking to journalists said: “We are aware of certain video being circulated. We have gotten complaints of the said video, and have commenced an investigation into the matter and the report would be made public. 
“The General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Major General Adamu Abubakar, is investigating it and whatever it is, we will definitely let the public know about the outcome." 
 
However, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has extended the curfew in Aba to Friday. The Governor who alongside traditional rulers in the state, met with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) commanding the 82 Division of the Nigeria Army Enugu, Major General A.B. Abubakar, at Government House in Umuahia, the Abia state capital on Wednesday asking the GOC to reduce military presence in the state, particularly in Aba and Umuahia since tension in the state has reduced.
