Our Slumbering Faith While Nigeria Dies; A Midweek Sermon At The Sinners Assembly
Midweek Sermon At The Sinners Assembly
Topic: Our Slumbering Faith While Nigeria Dies
Text: Amos, Jeremiah 29:7; 2 Chronicles 7: 14; Ezekiel 22:30; Romans 13; 1st Timothy 2:1-2
Prayer; May the Most High give you RHEMA as you read these letters/words.
Most Christians went into spiritual slumber once Pastor Adeboye was fingered in supporting Buhari due to Osinbajo. They became excited that a Muslim presidential candidate attended a Christian shrine and joined in the rites/rituals of worship.
Most Christians are still snoring, refusing to wake up to say radical prayers that will turn around the nation. I say, bread and butter prayers, is not what Nigeria needs at this crucial time in her history.
Nigeria needs men and women, who will dedicate themselves to intercessory prayers for the nation, not interceding for their pastor or prosperity of their church. You cannot prosper, if there is no peace in the land. Jeremiah 29:7 – “Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
I Timothy 2:1-2 – I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
Most Christians and Men of faith, have been so economically brutalized that they cannot pray for others but for their daily bread. But can pray yourself out of hunger and economic stagnation, there is no demon or step mother bewitching you and stopping you from growing. You inability to pray out a dead, unfeeling and oppressive government, is responsible for you impoverishment. Nigeria is blessed with abundance of everything, it is government policies that hoard them, make only their political friends richer and the rest poor.
The Bible remains true when it wrote in 2 Chronicles 7:14 ; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
God is looking for Nigerian intercessors; Ezekiel 22:30, “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.” Pastor, Brother, Sister, where are you?
But like their USA counterpart who chanted in Trump and are confused, Nigerian Christians are in disarray and hiding behind Romans 13,forgetting that such respect and honour should be given to a righteous ruler and not the kind of rulers and oppressors found in Amos particularly Chapter 4. If you mischievously interpret Mountain of Samaria to be a Rock, you are on your own.
Nigerian Christians and other faiths, should arise and pray for the nation, its leaders and followers. Any within these categories that is against the progressive will of the Most High for Nigeria, may such be removed from the midst of Nigeria, so that the nation can stop crawling and fly into the glorious destiny the Most High had prepared for Nigeria in the comity of Nations.
The Most High gave us abundant resources to be used to help ourselves and be big brother to less privileged African countries and not for us to be the butt of all jokes in the smoke filed boardrooms in Europe, Asia and USA.
Arise o ye faithful ones and pray out Nigeria from its crippled state, to its glorious future.
CHE OYINATUMBA
