WE WANTED A "KING" (LEADER)

The event that led to the emergence of the present government in Nigeria can be juxtaposed to the event that happened in the Bible, when the Israelite where desperately asking God to give them a king. The Lord Almighty tried to make them to be patient, but they persisted and insisted on getting a king that will “lead them”

Finally, they got a king called Saul, who looked cool and innocent to them, but on the long run, they regretted having Saul as a king, but God in His infinite mercy, got rid of Saul and gave them King David, the man after His heart.

This same event can be linked to that of Nigeria indirectly. The “good” people of Nigeria became “frustrated” with the government of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, saying that he is too weak, too naive, too slow to act, in fact he is a baby who couldn’t take drastic actions on his own, despite the fact that he is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces of Nigeria. Then we asked for a new king (leader) who will take us to the “promise land” filled with milk and honey, we persisted and insisted on getting rid of the old king (leader) who we claim was not performing as expected, so as to usher in the new king (leader) who will take us to the “promise land”.

Then came in “The General” himself, Muhammadu Buhari, (my goodness! How did this even happen) a former dictator, a coup plotter, a sadist as our new king (leader). We now have the king (leader) we’ve been asking for, do we regret our actions, let his actions, and undemocratic tendencies judge us, let our conscience speak for us.

NOTE: A TYRANT IS A TYRANT, NO MATTER THE AGE; YOU CANNOT CHANGE A MAN AT OLD AGE, LET US ALL ENJOY AND SAVOIR THE SCENT OF THE NEW KING WE ASKED GOD AND OUR CONSCIENCE FOR.
