IS CORRUPTION ABOUT STEALING ALONE

According to Miriam Webster; Corruption is the dishonest or illegal behavior especially by powerful people (such as government officials or police officers) impairment of integrity, virtue, or moral principle inducement to wrong by improper or unlawful means (as bribery) departure from the original or from what is pure or correct.

On this premise, it is important to note that stealing is part of corruption and not necessarily what defines corruption, because the man who embezzle or misappropriate funds, and the man engages in the act of nepotism; which is giving preference to his or her immediate family members, to the detriment of other qualified people, they are all corruption. Any leader that doesn’t speak the truth is corrupt, any leader or person that doesn’t respect court orders is corrupt, any leader that is selective in probing people that have been accused of corruption is corrupt, any leader that makes provocative and inciting statements, which will lead to the death of innocent people, is corrupt. Any leader that is not truthful about his or her qualification before emerging as a leader is corrupt.

So a man that refuses to obey court orders is not corrupt? While a man who steals, embezzles and misappropriates funds is not corrupt; lie! They are all corrupt, and should be treated as corrupt people, because corruption encompasses all moral vices in the land.

Even the quota system in the country is corruption, how on earth do you explain the basis where by someone from the North that score less than 50 in jamb will be giving admission into the higher institution because of quota system, Hypocrisy everywhere!
Armies are been sent to war zone based on their tribes is that not corruption? Appointing more than 60% of your relatives in your cabinets to the detriments of other tribes, is that not corruption? Is infrastructural imbalance in the country not corruption? Promotion of officers of the force and the civil servants  based on tribe and religion, is that not corruption? Employment of applicants based on religion and tribe, is that not corruption?
The issue of corruption in Nigeria is a systemic one, in the sense that it has been seem as a birthright in this country and will eat up the entire country if care is not taken. Until the leaders stand up to fight corruption headlong in all itsentirety, the other set off corrupt people, who don’t steal money but do things that are greater and more devastating will continue to get away with their sins, hence plunging the country into a banana island.

I hope Somalia and Afghanistan will not be better than Nigeria in years to come!
