MY CONCLUSION (Part II)
“A
leader that does not make errors is been insincere to his or herself. Nobody is
perfect, hence the need to always admit mistakes, and make corrections as soon
as possible; so as to avoid rancor”.
Nigeria as a
country lacks quality leadership, not because we do not have good leaders; but
because of the way and manner our political parties have turned our politics
into “the highest bidder takes it all”. You can imagine when an ordinary form
of 3-4 pages called nomination form is sold for millions of naira, why will
somebody folk out their hard earned money for just nomination form, knowing
that if they lose they will not be refunded back their money. So nobody that is
working so hard will be ready to spend that kind of man money, unless they have
god fathers; which on the other hand is another monster that killing our
country. Politics in Nigeria now is like the rich getting richer, while the
poor keeps getting poorer.
The issue of
diversifying Nigeria’s economy is very paramount to the country if they want to
come of the economic meltdown. If think the president lacks sound economic
advisers, because if he does; he wouldn’t be making all these economic policies
that looks so archaic and out of possibility. Nigeria is a country where the
leaders talk too much without backing it with actions. We have so many solid
mineral resources apart from crude oil like; tin ore, iron ore, coal, lead,
limestone, gold, which if been harnessed very well we will help to boost the
economy. But nobody is thinking of doing anything. The minister of mines and
steel, I don’t know if he even exists, he just there whiling away his time. We
have so many myopic minds that have been neglecting the situations in the
country, some of them are even sabotaging their own country, for their personal
interest; is that not wickedness? What a country.
The issue of
power is another issue that should be looked into, because it is the foundation
for a vibrant industrial nation. Any country that wants to be the economic
powers does not play with power generation. No industry can survive without
constant electricity. You can imagine when an individual or a company spends
more than have of their profit on generators, diesel and petrol; the effect is
an eye sore. It is very unfortunate that in this 21st century
Nigeria is still battling with 3-4 thousand mega watts, after spending billions
of dollars on power, yet nothing to show for it. These same politicians are the
ones sabotaging their so called “fatherland”.
On how to
generate constant power, not that we don’t have the natural resources to give
us power; we have them in abundance. We have gas, coal, dams, solar and even
lightening; but nobody is looking into these directions, the rich men are just
investing their money in generators, what a shame! The most annoying is that
this country called Nigeria is giving their neighbors electricity, but they can
never be constant power in her own country, it’s a pity. How can they expect
the country to grow, without power, no good road, no good healthcare system, no
sound educational system; I weep for Nigeria.
Nigeria is a
country that has 3 standard refineries that can produce millions of barrels of
crude oil, instead of looking more money in achieving this; they are channeling
this money in importing a product that is domiciled in their own country.
People are just suffering in the midst of plenty, this people are intentionally
doing all these things to kill us; but we will not die there.
On the
issues of Nigeria’s hospitals visa-viz the health care system is just an eye
sore. This is a country where people die at the slightest outbreak of any
illness, because the government has deliberately abandoned the healthcare
system in Nigeria for the ones abroad. Nigeria as a country is blessed with so
many sound and intellectual male and female medical doctors and health
personnel generally, but the government has decided to neglect them, hence the
end product is what we are seeing right now, no good and sound equipment in
case of emergency, so many hospitals no longer place top priority for human
lives anymore, they prefer to see a patient die if they do not give out money
on the spot for medical treatment. People are just for no just cause; for
instance the Late Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Sun Newspaper Mr. Dimba Igwe died
due to the neglect of our hospitals due to their placing top priority on money
instead of individual’s life. Mr. Dimba was hit by an unknown bus driver while
during his early jogging exercise in his street. He was taken to different
hospitals, and instead of treating him, they keep transferring him from one
hospital to the other; this man died from the severe bleeding he had, after been
taken to more than four hospitals. This and many more are still happening in
this country, people are dying every day as a result of the intentional neglect
of the health care system in Nigeria. Even the ones that are ready to work are
not been paid their salaries. No wonder we are still backward.
Our
politicians keep travelling abroad for medical treatment, taken our foreign
exchange to other countries, hence depriving their own the forex and
encouraging Europeanization. Why not channel all these monies into the
healthcare system, and make Nigeria a medical tourist country, so people from
abroad will be coming to the country for medical treatment; hence increasing
our forex storage and at large the economy, no will not do it, too bad for the
country.
The issue of
employment has been a thorn in the flesh of so many Nigerians, gone are those
days when once you graduate from the higher institution, companies are lining
up to employ this graduates, but now no way; graduates are the ones begging,
going extra miles to get jobs. It’s now an issue of “man know man” graduate now
fight for contacts for good jobs instead of working on themselves, that is what
bad governance can give them.
Nigeria as a
country is so blessed with talented people in different fields of life, be it
music, acting, dancing, writing, law, broadcasting, “cattle rearing” yes cattle
rearing because this field produced the current president of the country. The
issue now is that we don’t have the will power from the government to turn
talents into an industrial base just like what the United States is doing, that
will boost the economy and create more jobs for the people.
You see our
policemen looking so retched and confused due to the fact that their salaries
are very little and poor, so they have no other choice than to collect their
normal daily contribution called “roger” though am not holding any brief for
them, because some of them are born criminals and mentally derailed. I think
before someone must be recruited into the police force, not only should the
person possess a senior secondary school certificate; which should be the
minimum qualification, the person should also be made to go through mental and
psychological examination before they can be considered, so as to avoid all
this incessant nuisance of the policemen in this country.
